Hot, hot, hot!
Summertime has many activities to focus on – kids having time off from school, seasonal art fairs, barbeques, time at the beach - all done with lots and lots of heat, especially in August! Heat can be physical – we feel the hot sun on our skin, sweat when we overheat or feel the burn on our tongues after tasting something spicy. Emotionally, heat can also be described as passion, fire or even spice.
What people or things add heat to your day?
How do you create heat in your own life?
Are you a hot person?
Could you use some cooling off or are you cool as a cucumber and perhaps in need of some heating up?
Sometimes heat can mean dealing with anger, being a “hot head”, tempers or aggression, but it doesn’t have to be limited to negative things and can, instead, also focus on positive attributes like passion, a zest for life, being turned “on” by your work, hobby, and yes, lover, too (there’s a great deal of potential in sexual healing in my opinion).
If you are someone who is generally more passive, lacking energy or desiring more enthusiasm – how do you increase your heat, turn it on and get fired up, if you will?
And what if you are prone to being short tempered, frustrated or otherwise overly excitable – how do you cool off some?
There are many possible solutions, I believe, but in short they start with focus and intention. A simple visualization using literal elements that inspire heating and cooling may help. If you’re feeling tired, lackadaisical or uninspired, for instance – close your eyes and visualize yourse lf surrounded by fire or heat (nothing scary or uncomfortable – remember this is to be enhancing and positive, not stressful.
If you’re about to lose your temper or are feeling hyper and unfocused, try visualizing cool things like ice, snow, cold water running over you and/or surrounding your space. As you visualize either element, take a slow, deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth. What do you notice?
How does this change your disposition?
Over time you may find that regular practice of these ideas can help you make deeper, longer lasting changes. You may also consider trying techniques like scripting, entrainment (like listening to a relaxing CD for example) or moving meditation (you know this one’s my personal favorite!)
Whatever your desire is – either to chill out or get revved up – there’s no better time to enjoy making personal improvements than right now. Why wait?
Best wishes,
